On Friday and Saturday, October 2-3, Royal Garden Plaza on Beach Road hosts International Tattoo Amazing Fest Pattaya - the city's third international tattoo festival. Artists work right at their booths and compete for trophies in dozens of categories, from old school to traditional Thai tattoo.
Last year's festival at the same mall filled more than 150 booths with artists from 27 countries, and entry was free. It is worth a look even if you are not planning to get inked: you can watch the artists at work from a couple of steps away, and in the evening the finished pieces are shown on stage.
Friday, October 2:
1. 11:00 - opening.
2. 12:30-17:15 - small and large piece contests, new school and old school.
3. 17:30 - DJ set.
4. 18:30-21:00 - best handmade work, best cover up and "best of the day".
5. 22:00 - end of day one.
Saturday, October 3:
1. 11:00 - contestant registration.
2. 12:30-16:30 - pop art, Thai tattoo, realism, Japanese style and Chonburi Flow.
3. 16:35-19:00 - awards for the daytime contests.
4. 19:30-21:00 - Best of Skull, "best of the day" and the festival's top trophy, Best of Show.
5. 21:10-23:30 - Miss ITAFP 2026 contest and closing.
The highlight is Saturday evening after 19:30, when the top trophy is decided. The organizers warn that contest times may shift; updates are posted on the festival's Facebook page.
If you decide to get a tattoo from one of the artists, keep in mind that a fresh tattoo means no swimming in the sea or pool and no sunbathing until the skin heals, usually about two weeks. It is easier to book the session for the end of your holiday.
