Thai baht to ruble rate drops 5% in a month: holidays and rentals in Pattaya get cheaper

Over the past month the baht lost 5% against the ruble and 1.5% against the dollar. Here is what rent, a winter stay and a condo in Pattaya cost now, and where to exchange money.

The Thai baht fell 5% against the ruble in a month. On 1 September 2026 one baht cost 2.61 rubles at the Bank of Russia rate, on 2 October it was 2.47 rubles. 10,000 rubles now buy 4,041 baht instead of 3,836 a month ago. Against the US dollar the baht slipped less: 1.5% over the month and 3.7% over the year. 100 dollars today get you 3,364 baht versus 3,313 in early September. For those bringing euros almost nothing has changed: the euro even lost about 1% against the baht this month. Why the baht is weakening: markets expect higher interest rates in the US than in Thailand, and money is moving into the dollar. On top of that oil has become more expensive, and Thailand buys its energy abroad. Together this has been pushing the baht down since late summer. What it means in numbers for Pattaya (Bank of Russia rate, 1 September → 2 October): 1. A studio at 8,500 baht a month - 21,032 rubles instead of 22,160. 2. A one-bedroom apartment at 13,000 baht - 32,167 rubles instead of 33,891. 3. A four-month winter stay in an apartment at 18,000 baht - 178,155 rubles instead of 187,704, saving almost 9,500 rubles. 4. A condo to buy at 2.85 million baht - 7.05 million rubles instead of 7.43 million, or 84,700 dollars instead of 86,000. Here is the upside for long-stayers: in a 6-12 month lease the price is written in baht. Sign it now, before the high season, and you lock in the baht price while paying less in rubles than a month ago. MyThai GO currently lists almost 60 apartments in Pattaya for long-term rent from 8,500 baht and around 280 for sale - browse real estate in Pattaya. If you are thinking of buying, here is what 1.1-5 million baht gets you. The central bank rate is only a guide. Exchange offices in Pattaya buy rubles below the market rate, dollars go at close to market, and the airport usually offers a worse rate than the city. Don't change the whole amount at once: the rate moves both ways and can win back part of the drop within a week. You can change rubles or dollars into baht with our exchange partner in Pattaya, Bangkok and Phuket - currency exchange. Save this news or forward it to friends planning a winter in Pattaya: while the baht is cheap, housing for the season will cost them several thousand rubles less.
