Due to the active royal residence in the city, order is constantly maintained in Hua Hin and a high level of security is ensured. Hua Hin means “Stone Head,” a name related to rocks protruding from the water along the city’s coast that look like stone heads from a distance. Sam Roi Yot National Park. The royal resort of Hua Hin is located on the western coast of the Gulf of Siam and has been used as a retreat by many generations of the royal family. It all started in 1924 when King Rama VI built a summer palace for rest and treatment, turning a small fishing village into a popular resort. The palace is made entirely of teak wood and is named the Palace of Love and Harmony. The royal family traveled to this resort by train, using a specially built station. That is why the station is a popular attraction. In Hua Hin, there are many places where monkeys live freely alongside people. One of these places is Monkey Mountain and a temple, which is also an observation deck. From this viewpoint, there is a beautiful view of the beach extending for many kilometers. Unlike Pattaya, you cannot observe the sunset here, but you can enjoy the sunrise, for which there is a special place with five observation decks. 40 km from Hua Hin is the world-famous Sam Roi Yot nature reserve. One hundred square kilometers of untouched nature — forests, mountains, caves, mangrove thickets. The most popular place in this reserve is the Phraya Nakorn cave. The cave where kings descend for prayer. Many small cozy restaurants and cafes with tasty and inexpensive cuisine will brighten your evening in the city. A trip to Hua Hin will be a pleasant and unforgettable vacation. Phraya Nakorn cave A huge cave located in the Hat Laem Sala area. This giant cave, located high on a hill (430 m climb up a steep rocky slope), is a favorite place for park visitors. The cave consists of two huge halls whose roofs have collapsed, allowing sunlight and rain to reach the very bottom. The height of the dome is about 130 meters, the width of the main hall is several hundred meters. Vertical lighting gives a unique shape to all objects caught in the light beam. An unreal feeling arises when you try to photograph each other in such cosmic lighting. Trees are firmly rooted in the cave, reaching their crowns to the very top. The cave's most popular attraction is Phra Thinang Khuha Kharuehat, a small royal pavilion (a four-fronted building) built on a rise in the center of the cave. The cave was discovered by Prince Phra Ya Nakorn, who ruled the city of Nakhon Si Thammarat. On June 20, 1890, King Rama V (Chulalongkorn) visited the cave and named this pavilion Kuha Karue Hat Royal Throne, writing his name on the northern wall of the cave. The pavilion was built to celebrate festivals. King Rama VII visited this place in 1926; King Rama IX came twice. Due to its beauty and distinctive identity, the pavilion is now used as a symbol of Prachuap Khiri Khan.
