Historical background:
The Dragon Temple Wat Sam Phran is one of the most unusual temples in Thailand. The dragon is 300 meters long, 17 stories high, founded in 1985. This little-known temple for tourists is a 50-meter pink building wrapped by a giant mythical dragon. Previously, tourist access to the temple was strictly forbidden, the temple had a bad reputation due to monks performing unusual and shocking rituals in the garden around the temple. But after a scandal broke in the press and subsequent court cases against the temple’s abbot, the sanctuary was opened to everyone willing, and the place is becoming more and more popular daily. The temple was recently renovated after several years of neglect and only recently has it become possible to climb inside the dragon’s body to the very top near its gaping mouth.
Amphawa is a city built on water; instead of streets, there are canals. The most authentic city in Thailand. Founded in the 17th century, birthplace of two kings – Rama I and Rama II.
The program runs from 7:30 to 22:30 from Pattaya.
