Pattaya Floating Market
A themed market park in Pattaya with four zones styled after Thailand's regions, canal boat rides and cultural shows all in one place.
The Floating Market (officially the Four Regions Floating Market) is a themed park on Sukhumvit Road, about 10-12 km south of central Pattaya. It was built in 2008 as a tourist attraction: a network of man-made canals and wooden boardwalks covering roughly 100,000 sq m, bringing together the architecture, food and crafts of every region of Thailand under one roof.
The grounds are split into four themed zones - North, Northeast (Isan), Central and South - each with its own regional architecture and crafts. Stalls across the market sell pad thai, tom yum, som tam, khao soi, noodles and grilled seafood, with mango sticky rice and coconut ice cream for dessert. Most of the shops sit on wooden boardwalks rather than boats - only part of the market genuinely floats on the canals.
Beyond the food and souvenirs, you can take a rowing-boat ride through the canals - the trip takes about 20-40 minutes and gives a completely different view of the market than walking the boardwalks. Several times a day, included in the entrance ticket, the market puts on Thai dance shows and Muay Talay water boxing, where the fighters battle it out on a platform right over the canal.
The market is open daily from around 9:00 am to 8:00 pm. A ticket for foreign visitors costs around 200 baht at the gate - cheaper if booked online in advance - and around 100 baht for a child, with the youngest kids free. The easiest way there is by taxi or Grab: about 15-20 minutes from central Pattaya along Sukhumvit Road; a songthaew is cheaper but slower.
