Visit the Wat Pho Reclining Buddha Temple – one of the oldest temples in Bangkok, built by the founder of the Chakri dynasty, King Rama I. Walk through the Royal Palace – residence of the Chakri dynasty kings. Currently, King Rama X resides within the Royal Palace grounds. Visit Wat Phra Kaew or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Here lies the main relic of the Kingdom – the Emerald Buddha statue. Take a longtail boat ride on the Chao Phraya River: see the historical part of the city from a unique perspective and the residential quarters of the poorer city inhabitants. Enjoy lunch at the panoramic restaurant on the 76th floor of the Baiyoke Sky – the whole City of Angels at your feet! Free time at the city souvenir and local goods market. You can buy everything from Thai silk to balms, national costumes, and modern fashion. Your shoulders and knees must be covered (to enter temples).
